Women's Ordination Debate in SDA Church / Emerging Church comes out

Since the Adventist church already has gay ministers, why shouldn't women be given the same rights?

GAY PRIDE AT THE SABBATH SCHOOL QUARTERLY

"I’m sure Jesus looks approvingly on ‘loving, monoganamous, and committed’ homosexual sodomy". (Clifford Goldstein, see screenshot below)

AND WHERE DOES HE GET THIS THEOLOGY

"I loved Leaves of Grass" (Clifford Goldstein, It is so, Adventist Review, 16 Jan 2014), "which celebrates the soul through the trope of fellatio: ‘Loafe with me on the grass, loose the stop from your throat, / … Only the lull I like, the hum of your valved voice’. Leaves of Grass, the title Whitman gave his collected poems, pivots upon this dalliance with a young man in the grass." (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, and Allied Resource Office, Walt Whitman, University of Illinois Springfield, http://www.uis.edu/lgbtqa/WaltWhitman/)

THIS THEOLOGY HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A WHILE

In the 1970s, General Conference Vice President Dr. Mike Ryan taught at a seminary in Asia where scholars shared the vision of Elder Clifford Goldstein of the Sabbath School Quarterly.  (as shown at right from Coral Cadence, 1977)

ALSO POPULAR AT THE SDA THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

"My wife has a cousin who is gay, and then I have other friends and former classmates who are gay." "We should protect the rights of homosexual persons in the United States. Very strongly."
(Roy Gane, Professor, Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, Tuesday Choice: The Old Testament and Homosexuality, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6KGuJr7jLY, minutes  1, 22)

LIGHT BEARERS HAS THEIR BACK

"Love alone is credible.  Nothing else can be believed, nothing else should be believed."  (2019 Collegedale Camp Meeting - Ty Gibson - Sabbath 2nd Service, https://vimeo.com/339779240, minute 49)

"What would happen if a Union or a Conference decided to ordain gay pastors to the gospel ministry? You might think that such a possibility is far-fetched. But is it? Past history reveals that the very next step that has been taken by denominations that have ordained women pastors in the name of justice and equality (such as the Presbyterians and Episcopalians) has been to ordain gay pastors."  (Stephen Bohr, Reflections on Women's Ordination, Secrets Unsealed, 2nd Quarter 2012, p 24)

SO GC VP MIKE RYAN SAID, WE'LL THINK ABOUT IT

"In comments to Session delegates today, world church General Vice President Michael L. Ryan said the Session Steering Committee is "committed" to bringing a comprehensive report on ordination to a church business meeting

FOR A LONG, LONG TIME

within the next five years." (Adventist Church administration commits to comprehensive study of ordination -- Expect a report within five years, Session Steering Committee says, Adventist News Network, 2 Jul 2010)

'CUZ DR. RYAN IS AN INSIDER

"You might be thinking, “Pastor Bohr, you are letting your imagination run wild. No denominational entity would ever vote to ordain a gay pastor who is in a same-sex marriage relationship.”  To this, I answer that there are already some individuals in the church who are pressing for just this" (Stephen Bohr, Reflections on Women's Ordination, Secrets Unsealed, 2nd Quarter 2012, p 25):  In the 1970s, Dr. Ryan taught at a seminary in Asia where gay ordination was an integral part of the curriculum.  (as shown at right from Coral Cadence, 1977)

While some of our senior theologians are perfectly open about their pride, many other church leaders are more circumspect, or closeted, in their gay rights activism.

So they use the code word "women's ordination".

Senior church leaders all know they're talking about gay rights (per Stephen Bohr, Reflections on Women's Ordination, Secrets Unsealed, 2nd Quarter 2012, p 24), while not offending conservative donors.

AND WHILE ULTRA LIBERAL THEOLOGIANS "STUDY" THE MATTER

"On July 29, 2012, the Columbia Union Conference voted to "authorize ordination without respect to gender". On August 19, 2012, the Pacific Union Conference also voted to ordain without regard to gender.  Both unions began immediately approving ordinations of women.  By mid-2013, about 25 women had been ordained to the ministry in the Pacific Union Conference, plus several in the Columbia Union." "On May 30, 2013, the Netherlands Union voted to ordain female pastors, recognizing them as equal to their male colleagues. On September 1, 2013, a woman was ordained in the Netherlands Union.(Ordination of women, Wikipedia)

But when Pastor Bohr's activist supporters call in to complain, church leaders tell them that the matter is still under study.

They just forget to mention that it's being studied by pride apostles like Mike Ryan and Clifford Goldstein.  (see at right)

"The question is, on the basis of the precedent that has been set, what would prevent the conference or union from voting to ordain gay pastors?" (Stephen Bohr, Reflections on Women's Ordination, Secrets Unsealed, 2nd Quarter 2012, p 24)

The answer, Pastor Bohr, is nothing.  Absolutely nothing has prevented them from engaging in both women's and gay ordination.  (see above)

And so it's a win-win situation.  Pastor Bohr is raking in the donations from conservative Adventists offended by the church's liberal ordination practices.  The study committee members are no longer as fit as in their 1977 beach photo, but they still enjoy their TOSC reunions to study the theological dimensions of ordination.

And Elder Goldstein is a sought-after speaker like never before.  GYC has been promoting the Goldstein theology most intensively through their heavily-trafficked web presence. (see at right)   "“We must give equal rights in pastoral ministry to those who are in a loving, same-sex relationship.”

PASTOR BOHR TAKES ISSUE WITH THE GYC AGENDA

You might argue: “But Pastor Bohr, this is openly
contradictory to Scripture.” “Not so” say those in the church who are in favor of same-sex relationships!! They argue that the Bible does not forbid loving, committed same-sex marriages." (Stephen Bohr, Reflections on Women's Ordination, Secrets Unsealed, 2nd Quarter 2012, p 24)(see at left)

And would they have given him the Quarterly job if they didn't agree with his theology?
